The vegetarian recipe for ‘Steamed Glutinous Rice with Shiitake Mushrooms’:

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 cups glutinous rice (soak in water for 2 hours and drain)
  • 2 sections vegetarian barbecued pork (defrost and cut into 8 slice)
  • 8 shiitake mushrooms (soak in water until soft)
  • 1 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 cups water

Seasonings

  • 1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce

Method

  • Heat oil, stir-fry vegetarian barbecued pork + shiitake mushrooms + soy sauce until fragrant.
  • Dish out and set aside.
  • In the remaining oil, stir-fry glutinous rice + five-spice powder + salt + sugar + dark soy sauce.
  • Add water, stir evenly, dish out and set aside.
  • Take 4 rice bowls.
  • Lay 2 slices of vegetarian barbecued pork + 2 shiitake mushrooms in the bottom of each rice bowl.
  • Then, put the flavoured glutinous rice on top.
  • Steam for about 30 minutes.
  • Serve.
