The vegetarian recipe for ‘Steamed Glutinous Rice with Shiitake Mushrooms’:
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 cups glutinous rice (soak in water for 2 hours and drain)
- 2 sections vegetarian barbecued pork (defrost and cut into 8 slice)
- 8 shiitake mushrooms (soak in water until soft)
- 1 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups water
Seasonings
- 1/4 teaspoon five-spice powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon soy sauce
- 1 teaspoon dark soy sauce
Method
- Heat oil, stir-fry vegetarian barbecued pork + shiitake mushrooms + soy sauce until fragrant.
- Dish out and set aside.
- In the remaining oil, stir-fry glutinous rice + five-spice powder + salt + sugar + dark soy sauce.
- Add water, stir evenly, dish out and set aside.
- Take 4 rice bowls.
- Lay 2 slices of vegetarian barbecued pork + 2 shiitake mushrooms in the bottom of each rice bowl.
- Then, put the flavoured glutinous rice on top.
- Steam for about 30 minutes.
- Serve.
