• 1/2 loaf of vegetarian fish/素食快乐鱼 su shi kuai le yu – made from soya (slice)
  • 1/2 vegetarian belacan/vegetarian shrimp paste – ball form (dice)
  • 20 dried chilies (soak in boiling water until tender, mince with a blender, simmer with some salt and sugar; serves as a dried chili paste)


  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce


  • Pan-fry vegetarian fish slices, dish out, drain and set aside.
  • In some remaining oil, stir-fry dried chili paste + diced vegetarian belacan until fragrant.
  • Add fried vegetarian fish slices + 1 big bowl of water and simmer until half absorbed.
  • Add sugar + soy sauce, briefly cook and serve.
