Ingredients

  • 2 yam beans (cut into thin strips)
  • 5 shiitakes (soak in water until soft, cut into thin strips)
  • 6 long beans (cut into thin round pieces)
  • 1 small packet of glutinous rice flour
  • 1 banana leaf (cut into round shapes – 2 1/2 inch diameter)

Seasonings

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of white pepper powder

Method

  • Filling = Stir-fry yam bean strips + shiitake strips + long bean pieces. Add salt + sugar + soy sauce + white pepper powder and briefly stir-fry. Add 1/2 cup of water and simmer until fully absorbed. Dish out and set onto a plate to cool.
  • Dough = Gradually add some water into the glutinous rice flour, mix and form a soft & sticky dough.
  • Prepare one cup of oil, spread some oil onto your hands, scoop out 2 tablespoons of the glutinous rice dough, put it on your hand and flatten the dough into round shape.
  • Add one tablespoon of filling onto the center of the pastry, pull around and pinch ends to make round dumplings.
  • Lay onto the banana leaves and steam for 15 minutes.
