• 2 pieces of ‘wheat cod fish’ 素麦鳕鱼 su mai xue yu/vegetarian fish
  • some tapioca starch for coating
  • 1 small piece of ginger (shred, fry and set aside)


  • 1 tablespoon of sugar
  • 1 tablespoon of soy sauce


  • Coat vegetarian fish with tapioca starch and fry in heated oil. Dish out, drain and set on a plate.
  • Saute soy sauce + sugar in 1 tablespoon of remaining fried oil.
  • Then, simmer with 1/2 cup of water.
  • When the sauce is ready, scoop it over the fried vegetarian fish.
  • Lastly, top the dish with fried shredded ginger and serve.
