The vegetarian recipe for Turmeric Glutinous Rice with Shredded Coconut:


  • 2 cups glutinous rice (wash)
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 cups shredded coconut


  • 1 tbsp turmeric powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup sugar


  • Turmeric Glutinous Rice: Place glutinous rice in water (6 cups), add turmeric powder, soak for 2 hours, drain, take the rice, mix with salt and steam for 5 minutes. Then, add water (1/3 cup) and steam for another 20 minutes. Lastly, pour the coconut milk over and steam for another 5 minutes.
  • Shredded Coconut: Lay the sugar in a pan and dissolve over low heat. Add water (1/2 cup) + shredded coconut and occasionally stir until fully absorbed.
  • Serve the turmeric glutinous rice with sweetened shredded coconut.
